PRA Group Sponsors 400 Guests to Experience Nauticus’ WinterFest on the Wisconsin
NORFOLK, Va., Nov. 18, 2024 – PRA Group was the proud “Community Access Night” sponsor of Nauticus’ WinterFest on the Wisconsin. This sponsorship made it possible for 400 guests affiliated with YWCA South Hampton Roads and United Way of South Hampton Roads’ Aspire & Strive Program to visit Downtown Norfolk’s iconic winter lights display on the USS Wisconsin at no cost to them.
WinterFest on the Wisconsin features more than one million lights, strung together to create glowing tunnels, twinkling footbridges and dazzling displays. While enjoying the family-friendly event, patrons are also able to explore the historic decks of the Battleship Wisconsin, the last battleship built by the U.S. Navy. This year’s event pays tribute to movies like “A Christmas Story,” “The Grinch” and “Elf.”
“Our nonprofit partners better the lives of people in Hampton Roads, the area surrounding PRA Group’s global headquarters in Norfolk, Va. Being able to remove the barrier of cost for them to attend an event like this is what the season of giving is all about,” said Giovanna Genard, vice president of global communications and external affairs. “Philanthropy is a central component of PRA Group and we’re proud to have provided a way for hundreds of people to enjoy one of the area’s most fun, festive and educational winter traditions.”
In addition to sponsoring “Community Access Night” on the event’s opening weekend, PRA Group also provided hands-on support to help prepare for WinterFest. In October, a group of volunteers visited Nauticus and the USS Wisconsin to put together artificial trees and paint decorative set pieces featured in the winter displays.
“Volunteer days allow our colleagues to make a positive impact in the community in which they live and work,” said Jillian Talley, manager of events and community engagement. “Being able to get hands-on with a project like this, in a place as special as the USS Wisconsin, was a really rewarding experience.”
WinterFest on the Wisconsin is open on select nights from November 15, 2024, through January 1, 2025.
